Creating a connection to the outside and nature, and bringing the outside in, is something we strive for even in an urban environment.

The magic of opening a door and seeing daylight, sky, or views to a garden can transform a space from an entrance hall to a key and enjoyable space.

We often work on houses with limited garden or outdoor space, and come up with clever solutions, such as sliding-folding terraces which open to become lightwells to basements below when not in use, like in Holland Park, or the playful sliding terrace for a house in Barnes, SW London, to allow space for a glass of wine in the last spot of evening sun.

In the photographs below, you can also find landscaped lightwells that we have designed, along with other exterior spaces.

Working alongside our favourite landscape designers we can ensure that the exterior space becomes an extension of the characteristics found in the interior, blending the two together.
