creativemass is a design-led boutique architecture and design practice, based in Battersea, London, founded by Claire McDonald and Graham Massey. With a uniquely creative approach that embraces a client\u2019s brief we create simple, beautiful, delightful, elegant places in which to live and work.<\/p>\n

We create tailor-made designs – even for the smallest of spaces!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our approach goes further and deeper than most, we care about our projects, and expect and demand to put in the time and dedication to get things right and allow us to create beautiful buildings with our clients.<\/p>\n

Our studio has expertise in a range of sectors including residential, workplace, education, hospitality and mixed-use projects. Our projects range from new and refurbishment projects in Kensington, Chelsea, Belgravia, South West London and the Home Counties, to a recent commission for a mountain cabin retreat in the Swiss Alps.<\/p>\n

We have a wealth of experience in residential properties, ranging from the renovation and extension of heritage buildings, high-end conversions and exquisite family homes, through to new-build projects in complex urban sites, and also including fabulous family homes in suburban settings.<\/p>\n

We understand the challenges of balancing family life with the demands of a busy work life, and we work closely with our clients to create bespoke spaces and solutions designed carefully for them and how they live (and want to live!).<\/p>\n

Having collectively designed many award-winning buildings over the last 20 years, we know how to make spaces that are uplifting, practical and special, with a timeless elegance. We believe that architecture and interiors are synonymously linked, and we bring a continuity in design integrity from the exterior fabric of the building right through to the final last details of bespoke joinery and interior design.<\/p>\n

We are passionate about design, and our attention to detail, and hands-on approach from both Directors when overseeing projects ensures that our clients benefit from a fully comprehensive service tailored to each client and each project requirements.<\/p>\n

Planning Applications<\/h2>\n

Our architectural team have a wealth of experience working closely with planning departments across all Boroughs in London, as well as the district and parish councils of various Home Counties.<\/p>\n

We advise on all planning, permitted development and Listed Building Consent matters, from small scale extensions to large scale residential and mixed-use developments.<\/p>\n

Where required, we work in consultation with English Heritage, Heritage Specialists and when beneficial, external planning consultant teams.<\/p>\n

Our team will provide; Design and Access Statements, Heritage Statements, Certificate of Lawful Development applications, Full Planning Applications, Listed Building Consent Applications, and full liaison with Local Authority planning teams.<\/p>\n

We will also provide assistance with commissioning and coordinating various specialist reports, such as; Flood Risk Assessments (FRA), Construction Method Statements (CMS), Construction Traffic Management Plans (CTMP), Basement Impact Assessments (BIA) and other relevant technical studies.<\/p>\n

Conservation, Listed Buildings & Heritage Projects<\/h2>\n

We often work on Listed Buildings and Heritage projects, sometimes with specialist heritage consultants, who will undertake historic appraisals and condition assessments, and the preparation of schedules of significance and repair schedules, which serve to inform our design proposals for the retention and rejuvenation of the building.<\/p>\n

We believe in understanding the fabric of a building, and its constituent parts, in order to understand the importance of elements which may be conserved, as well as how new proposals may help a building to evolve and become suitable for contemporary lifestyles.<\/p>\n

We deal with the conservation and remodelling of Listed Buildings; associated Planning and Listed Building Consent applications; building design and regeneration in conservation areas; and in finding innovative ways of breathing new life into existing properties, either by reconfiguring and extending or simply conserving the elements which give the building its special value.<\/p>\n

We have extensive experience of working with locally and nationally Listed properties in London and the home counties, and in particular in the London Boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster, Wandsworth and Richmond, and Camden councils.<\/p>\n
